Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Engineer is tasked with overseeing, coordinating, and executing all facets of the Quality department. This role is pivotal in implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems compliant with industry standards to ensure our products meet all specified dimensions, specifications, and quality requirements set forth by our clients. The engineer will also drive continuous enhancements based on customer feedback and operational processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and establish quality assurance testing protocols for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods. Aid in formulating quality control policies and assess production constraints. Implement New Product Introduction (NPI), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and work instructions for quality control inspections. Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA). Submit Engineering Change Requests and lead Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives. A bachelor's degree is required.
- Engage in complex tasks within the role, working independently and collaboratively. Typically requires 3 to 7 years of relevant experience.
- Collaborate with clients, program managers, and engineering teams to develop methodologies for inspecting and testing products to fulfill customer specifications.
- Responsible for creating and executing inspection, testing, and calibration processes while supporting audits from customers and regulatory bodies.
- Analyze product defects, production methods, and customer specifications to recommend or implement modifications to products and quality standards, including the development of work instructions.
- Manage product deviation requests and other quality notifications from customers.
- Support and enhance the Quality Management System continuously.
- Work alongside engineering to oversee the document control process.
- Establish effective communication channels to ensure the flow of quality-related information among vendors, customers, management, and other departments.
- Identify and develop quality metrics as necessary.
- Assist in formulating strategic and tactical plans to achieve company and departmental objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AS9100 or ISO9000 quality systems.
- Familiarity with GD&T and RCCA.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to analyze and resolve issues effectively.
- Demonstrated success in managing a manufacturing quality system with measurable outcomes.
- Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques, quality assurance, quality control, and related measurement methodologies.
- Familiarity with product inspection standards, sampling, metrology, and calibration tools is preferred.
- Experience in utilizing statistical data analysis to enhance design, manufacturing, and supply chain processes.
- Understanding of supply chain operations and supplier quality management programs.
- Ability to specify, negotiate, and document agreements related to supplier quality requirements.
- Experience in developing and managing an effective Material Review Board (MRB) program.
- Capability to lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to products and processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage teams and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
- Adaptability to changing requirements and resources.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with APQP and RCCA methodologies.
Certifications:
- ASQ Quality Engineer (QE) or Quality Manager (QM) certification is preferred.
- Lean certification (Green or Black belt) is preferred.
