The Loss Prevention Operations Manager will serve as the primary expert in training, auditing, and investigative needs.

Their main focus is to minimize losses and enhance profitability through proactive training methods, standardized audits, and resolving internal and external investigations.

Management

Establish and maintain open communication with operations to support all levels of business dialogue aimed at increasing gross margin efforts and reducing shrinkage and related risks.

Act as the subject matter expert on all store systems related to inventory movement and associated functions that can lead to shrinkage (including POS systems, inventory management, cash management, loss prevention, and operational policies).

Training

Conduct training sessions on shrink awareness and loss prevention for the retail store group, including district managers, store management, and associates.

Assist in developing and executing training materials to promote awareness of shrink prevention.

Develop and actively promote an awareness program to inform store personnel of loss prevention issues or safety concerns that may affect their store.

Implement and manage the company's High Shrink Action Plan program within designated stores.

Audits

Conduct audits related to shrink and loss prevention; report findings and provide recommendations to retail management and store personnel.

Utilize audit results to focus training efforts aimed at decreasing shrink risk and increasing compliance with company policies.

Analysis

Understand and utilize exception-based software to identify potential loss issues; investigate these issues and determine whether they are training or integrity-based.

Monitor compliance with established policies and procedures through various reporting tools and respond as necessary to identify and resolve training or integrity issues.

Analyze and investigate inventory shrinkages to determine causes and actively participate in initiatives to resolve and correct store-level issues.

Investigations

Investigate any concerns related to suspicious losses to ascertain situational facts; conduct interviews with all parties involved and resolve internal theft matters.

Conduct internal investigations when necessary and submit written reports for each investigation following established guidelines. Formulate recommendations to prevent future losses and communicate these to the appropriate parties.

Serve as a liaison with law enforcement to recover merchandise or cash, prosecute cases, and facilitate restitution when necessary.

Physical Security

Be the subject matter expert for all physical security programs and processes within the retail store group, including expertise in alarm systems, CCTV, and related programs.

Ensure that all related tools are properly placed and scoped in all stores.

Qualifications

Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to facilitate group training sessions with competent public speaking skills.

Analytical skills sufficient to conduct research, determine relevance of information, and interpret meaning.

Investigation, interview, and interrogation skills (Wicklander & Zulawski or Reid Training required – CFI preferred).

Financial analysis skills sufficient to interpret operating statements and other financial data.

Basic computer proficiency with applications such as Microsoft Office.

Familiarity with exception-based management software applications.

Work Experience and/or Education

Progressive experience in a retail loss prevention position(s).

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Retail operations experience preferred.

Three or more years of multi-store experience required.


Note:

This position requires weekly travel in a company-provided vehicle with limited overnight stays; a current driver's license and acceptable driving history is required.
