We are seeking a highly skilled Materials & Process Engineer III to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Engines business unit, you will be responsible for deriving design allowables for a range of materials & processes related to the selection, design, and manufacturing of Blue Engines.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistical analysis of metallic material properties, with experience in evaluating data populations and leveraging this data to output representative values for aerospace design. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to select materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to produce world-class aerospace hardware.

Responsibilities will include leading or supporting the creation of test plans for deriving design allowables for materials & processes not currently covered by MMPDS, completing advanced statistical analyses, and performing data reduction activities for life prediction analyses. You will also deliver internally-reviewed reports & presentations of completed work and support the development of a structural materials database for structural engineers and M&P engineers across Blue Origin.

Qualifications include a B.S. degree or higher in applied mathematics, materials science & engineering, or a related field, with experience in evaluating data populations, developing and executing plans for material characterization, and interacting with aerospace suppliers and/or OEMs relative to material/component qualifications.

Desired qualifications include 6+ years of experience in the field of statistical analysis of metallic material properties, with expert knowledge of statistical methods best suited for a range of applications, and process knowledge of various engineered metallic forms, such as additive manufacturing, forging, casting, etc.
