Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Benefits Specialist Supervisor to join our team at the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). As a Public Benefits Specialist Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing a unit of Public Benefits Specialists who determine eligibility for financial, medical, food, and long-term service and support programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate ongoing employee performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Manage leave and attendance for staff, ensuring equitable work distribution within the unit
  • Establish unit workloads and quality standards, controlling the overall workflow of work processed by the unit
  • Review activity reports and determine individual and unit training needs
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop hiring strategies and improve program effectiveness
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or Master's degree
  • Twelve months of experience as a Public Benefits Specialist 3
  • OR a Bachelor's degree or higher and twelve months of experience as a Public Benefits Specialist 2 determining eligibility for long-term care services
  • Equivalent education/experience: Experience examining/processing loan applications, medical insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment insurance claims, or a job providing staff support in financial eligibility determination, or in a job analyzing, verifying, and evaluating financial data and information
  • Satisfactory completion of the agency's Public Benefits Specialist Training Program
