Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Emergency Triage Technician to join our team at Ethos Veterinary Health. As a key member of our emergency and critical care department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and triage services to our furry friends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and provide for the patient's needs in the ER and critical care department, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Participate in patient triage to maximize efficiency and provide timely updates to clients.
  • Assist in patient stabilization, including IV catheter placement, drug/fluid therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Monitor patients and document their medical records accurately.
  • Perform diagnostics and treatments on patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Discharge patients and provide client education on home care instructions, medication information, and monitoring.
  • Induce and monitor general anesthesia/sedation procedures as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners on the status of their pet during their visit.
  • Maintain open and clear communications with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
  • Develop technical skills in areas such as IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, venipuncture, and safe restraint.
  • Follow established hospital policies and procedures when handling client concerns.
  • Participate in VTS mentorship opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Work rotating holiday shifts in the emergency and critical care department.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation as needed.
  • Document medical records accurately and legibly, adhering to hospital policy.
  • Enforce OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an AVMA-Accredited Veterinary Technician Program preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to new situations.
  • Ability to work as a team player and contribute to a positive team environment.

Experience:

  • Veterinary experience: 1 year (preferred).
