Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Insurance Agent to join our team at Field & Main Bank. As an Insurance Agent, you will be responsible for selling life, property, casualty, health, automotive, or other types of insurance to businesses and individuals. You will also be responsible for promoting our insurance products and services, as well as assisting in the training of our retail products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sell various types of insurance policies to businesses and individuals on behalf of insurance companies, including automobile, fire, life, property, medical and dental insurance or specialized policies such as marine, farm/crop, and medical malpractice.
  • Customarily and regularly meet with clients face-to-face, outside the office and in the office to sell insurance policies and products.
  • Interview prospective clients to obtain data about their financial resources and needs, the physical condition of the person or property to be insured, and to discuss any existing coverage.
  • Call on policyholders to deliver and explain the policy, to analyze insurance programs and suggest additions or changes, or to change beneficiaries.
  • Responsible for originating their own sales and developing their own client lists by contacting or networking with current or prospective clients and by developing and maintaining relationships with sources of leads and referrals.
  • Customize insurance programs or policies to suit individual customers, often covering a variety of risks.
  • Explain features, advantages, and disadvantages of various policies to promote sale of insurance plans, including the costs, monetary values or returns, death benefits, and risks of each.
  • Calculate premiums and establish payment method.
  • Inspect property, examining its general condition, type of construction, age, and other characteristics, to decide its insurance risk.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as maintaining records and handling policy renewals as necessary to service the customer.
  • Select a company that offers the type of coverage requested by the client to underwrite a policy.
  • Engage in developing marketing strategies to compete with other individuals or companies who sell insurance.
  • Confer with clients to obtain and provide information when claims are made on a policy.
Requirements
  • College degree or equivalent insurance sales work experience required.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in an insurance sales environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to sell and cross-sell products and services.
  • Broad knowledge of insurance industry & ability to apply & develop innovative industry advances or changes in products.
  • Must be licensed by Kentucky Department of Insurance Licensing.

  • Extremely knowledgeable of Insurance agency practices and procedures.
  • Performs duties under the direction and supervision of managers, operating from established directions and instructions.
  • Decisions are made within general company policy constraints and insurance laws but occasionally require independent decision making.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Strong oral communication abilities and customer relationship building abilities.
Work Environment

Work is performed in an office setting; one must be able to concentrate & perform work in an area that will likely result in the interruptions of one's duties. Work may require standing for long periods of time and to lift items weighing up to 25-70 lbs.
