We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Program Officer to join our Asia program team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing political developments in the country, refining the National Endowment for Democracy's (NED) Pakistan strategy, and monitoring the implementation of grants.
Key Responsibilities:- Work closely with the Asia program leadership to manage grants related to and coordinate NED's programming in Pakistan.
- Monitor political developments in the country relevant to the portfolio to inform NED strategies and programming.
- Monitor the implementation of NED-approved projects and evaluate the effectiveness and the institutional growth of NED grantees.
- Build and maintain relationships with like-minded organizations, including other donors, NED partners, and regional organizations.
- Liaise with other NED teams and participate in various working groups to improve NED's overall functioning and effectiveness.
- Organize and coordinate meetings and events focused on democracy-related issues in Pakistan.
- Produce written materials and presentations to provide funding recommendations to NED leadership.
- Travel to monitor existing grantees, identify new funding opportunities, and gain an on-the-ground perspective on the political situation.
- Bachelor's degree in International Affairs, Political Science, International Development, or a related discipline required; Master's degree preferred.
- Significant Pakistan experience.
- 8+ years of experience in democracy-related projects and programs required.
- 2+ years of living and working in the region preferred.
- Exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
- High degree of organization and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team player, including coordination and facilitation skills.
- Experience in financial monitoring and reporting.
- Experience in analytical reporting writing.
- Knowledge of program evaluation techniques.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Full professional proficiency in Urdu is preferred.
- Ability to travel to Pakistan, as needed.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- A competitive salary range of $85,000 - $125,000 USD, plus benefits.
