Job Title: Scientist I - Recombinant DNA Technology Specialist

Orion Group is seeking a highly motivated and passionate scientist to join our client's research team in Immunology Discovery based in Cambridge, MA.

The successful candidate will focus on making therapeutic molecules using recombinant DNA technology, expression/purification of recombinant proteins, testing purified proteins in functional cellular assays, including basic cell biology and biochemical skills.

The position offers a unique opportunity for a talented scientist to work in a dynamic, innovative, and multi-disciplinary environment to develop their career at the interface of basic research and early drug discovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute well-thought and well-planned in vitro experiments using tool reagents generated.
  • Conduct multi-color flow cytometry and independently analyze data using analytical software such as FlowJo.
  • Perform ELISA/MSD to quantitate pro-inflammatory proteins.
  • Utilize basic cell biology and biochemical skills, including tissue culture, transfection, cell line generation, SDS-PAGE, immunoprecipitation, and Western blotting.
  • Apply knowledge of DNA/RNA handling and other molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and qPCR.
  • Operate size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and mass spectrometry equipment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or related field with 2-3 years of experience in biotech or pharma set up.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in recombinant DNA technology, design, expression, and purification of recombinant monoclonal antibodies.
  • Excellent technical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
