Position Overview: The Shop Technician is responsible for the assembly, testing, and maintenance of customized mechanical, hydraulic, electro-mechanical/hydraulic, and electrical components and assemblies according to specified designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and adhere to engineering drawings, Bills of Material, and technical specifications.
  • Assemble, test, and service systems and components including hydraulic manifolds, solenoid valves, proportional valves, hoses, metal tubing, electrical cables, and controllers.
  • Conduct general mechanical tasks, including basic welding, torch work, grinding, etc.
  • Maintain necessary records (assembly routers, quality checks, dimensional checks, testing, etc.).
  • Fabricate and install high-pressure tubing using standard fittings.
  • Monitor the operation of installed equipment to identify hazards or issues and determine the need for adjustments, repairs, or replacements.
  • Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, and air conditioning units.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems.
  • Disassemble machinery to repair or replace defective parts.
  • Test and analyze malfunctioning equipment and tools to identify defects.
  • Clean and lubricate components as required.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior maintenance mechanics.
  • Inspect the work of peers.

Support and engage in the organization's continuous improvement initiatives to comply with ISO 9001 standards and understand the importance of adhering to the quality management system.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Two years of technical trade school.
  • Experience: A total of six (6) years of combined education and experience.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 environment is advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, and basic electrical circuits.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics/blueprints.
  • Ability to apply mechanical knowledge and skills effectively.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and utilizing general math applications for schematics.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and in emergency situations.
  • Skilled in organizing and prioritizing tasks to ensure completion of daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills in complex situations.
  • Capable of planning work for others and anticipating changes in responsibilities.
