Seven Counties Services is seeking a skilled Prevention Specialist to join our team. As a Prevention Specialist, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing prevention programs to promote healthy behaviors and prevent substance abuse in our community.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement prevention programs for pregnant and postpartum women, including universal, selective, and indicated prevention services.
- Deliver SBIRT (Screening Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment) trainings to potential referral sources and community partners.
- Collaborate with community partners to develop robust referral protocols and provide prevention trainings to individuals, agencies, or groups within the community.
- Participate in state initiatives and complete all necessary requirements as directed by the Department for Behavioral Health.
- Represent Seven Counties Services at various boards and committee meetings, promoting our organization's mission and values.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records on all assigned cases, ensuring compliance with board policies and procedures.
- Document all activities in the Prevention Database System and ensure the accuracy, content, and completeness of paperwork.
- Collect, create, organize, and maintain resources accessible to the community.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Health Education, or a related field.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, community supports, and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Experience with public speaking and presentations.
- Familiarity with the culture, demographics, and languages of the community where the program will be implemented.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to reliable means of transportation.
- Must obtain a Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) certification within 3 years of hire.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation and public speaking.
- Proven ability to build relationships, trust, and deepen connections with diverse people.
- Knowledge of positive youth development strategies.
- Ability to follow through on assignments with minimal oversight and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
