Job Summary

The Academic Support Specialist will provide individual and group tutoring services to students, utilizing various learning styles and techniques to maximize student potential. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to establish and maintain a trusting and productive working relationship with students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead group and individual tutoring sessions, using active learning and effective study techniques to meet students' learning needs.
  • Develop and distribute resources for students, faculty, and staff use, promoting a positive and student-centered environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance academic support skills.
  • Promote tutorial services during outreach activities and events, demonstrating adaptability, communication, and teamwork skills.

Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Arts or Science, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sensitivity and respect for the needs of economically and academically disadvantaged, ethnically diverse students.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a trusting and productive working relationship with program students and staff.
