Position Overview:
The Buyer/Planner is a critical role responsible for managing both direct and indirect material procurement, ensuring timely delivery, and confirming receipt to support the Master Product Schedule.


General Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the effectiveness of the Quality System components relevant to this position.
  • Oversee the supply of all materials necessary for production.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to materials, facilitating communication with internal stakeholders such as QA, Operations, Scheduling, Customer Service, and Finance.
  • Lead investigations into material discrepancies and Trackwise events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Purchasing Duties:
  • Generate and issue purchase orders (PO) to suppliers in accordance with approved suppliers, ensuring timely approvals.
  • Manage lead times and expedite costs with suppliers.
  • Maintain a tracker for order status, PO status, lead times, and receipt of goods.
  • Source new suppliers and vendors based on input from internal teams.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation for materials is received (Specifications, Instructions/Manuals, COA, MSDS, etc.).
  • Monitor and adjust open POs and supplier commitments, resolving discrepancies to ensure timely payments.
  • Acquire quotes for materials as requested by team members.
  • Collaborate with Global Procurement for high-value purchases to ensure compliance with contracts and codes of conduct.
  • Support capital expenditure processes.

Planning Responsibilities:
  • Conduct raw material planning for projects.
  • Maintain inventory levels in line with site policies and objectives, adjusting safety stock levels as necessary.
  • Manage Item Masters, BOMs, routes, and other supply chain data.
  • Support product launch activities as directed.
  • Review excess and obsolete inventory, providing data for customer reimbursement for owned materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels to meet targets, adjusting purchasing activities accordingly.
  • Process materials for destruction when obsolete or expired.
  • Facilitate shipment of materials, including samples, and prepare necessary documentation.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as life sciences, supply chain, or business, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a similar role, including production planning, inventory control, and purchasing.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a strong understanding of industry controls and requirements.
  • 1 year of experience with MRP systems.
  • APICS Certification is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret and act on MRP reports and stock status reports.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking clear English.
  • Demonstrated mathematical ability.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and analysis in completing responsibilities.
