Primary Care Physician

Job Summary
San José State University is seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Physician to join our team. As a Primary Care Physician, you will provide a variety of primary medical outpatient services in accordance with the overall operation of the Student Wellness Center.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine patients, diagnose illnesses and injuries, and develop treatment plans including prescribing and administering medical treatments
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory results, electrocardiograms, and x-rays
- Counsel and educate patients/students on related medical/personal problems and health measures, including routine immunizations
- Perform office procedures which include wound care, suturing, incision and drainage, splinting, trephination of subungual hematomas, and cryotherapy of skin lesions
- Provide sexual health education, counseling and care, including administration of medication abortion services
- Cooperatively participate in staff meetings, SWC committees, and in-service training, AAAHC Accreditation, and health education projects
Requirements
- Graduation from a medical school and completion of one or more residency programs and/or fellowships accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or equivalent in a specialty appropriate to their assigned primary duties
- A valid license to practice medicine in the State of California
- Current board certification in an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) specialty or subspecialty appropriate for their assigned specialty duties
- A valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration and number for prescribing controlled substances
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one (1) year of clinical experience in a college health setting or similar environments
- At least one (1) year of demonstrated proficiency in suturing and/or performing minor surgeries (those without anesthesia)
- At least one (1) year of clinical experience including mental health/behavioral care competence
Compensation
San José State University offers a comprehensive benefits package typically worth 30-35% of your base salary.
