Primary Care Physician

San Jose State University is seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Physician to join our Student Wellness Center team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide primary medical care to students, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, and treatment of illnesses and injuries. You will also have the opportunity to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff, and contribute to the development of health education programs and services.
Key Responsibilities- Examine patients, diagnose illnesses and injuries, and develop treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory results, electrocardiograms, and x-rays
- Counsel and educate patients on related medical/personal problems and health measures
- Perform office procedures, including wound care, suturing, and incision and drainage
- Provide follow-up care to ensure the appropriate resolution of illness or injury
- Graduation from a medical school and completion of one or more residency programs and/or fellowships accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)
- Valid license to practice medicine in the State of California
- Current board certification in an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) specialty or subspecialty
- Valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration and number for prescribing controlled substances
- At least one year of clinical experience in a college health setting or similar environment
- At least one year of demonstrated proficiency in suturing and/or performing minor surgeries
- At least one year of clinical experience including mental health/behavioral care competence
