Overview
Cleveland Construction is in search of a seasoned Traveling Superintendent to oversee the planning, scheduling, and management of subcontractors and laborers. The primary objective is to ensure that all work aligns with specifications, adheres to timelines, and upholds the site safety program as outlined in the company safety manual.
Project Experience:
Candidates should have experience with projects in sectors such as retail, hospitality, or multi-family residential. We are looking for a Superintendent who is willing to travel along the eastern seaboard to assist with various short-term projects, as well as long-term assignments. Current project locations include several states across the east coast.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Thorough understanding of all project documentation, including specifications, plans, submittals, subcontracts, and shop drawings.
- Ability to implement and uphold the company's safety policies and promote a culture of safety on-site.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with all project team members.
- Proven leadership capabilities to organize and manage all aspects of the project effectively.
- Experience in planning, directing, and documenting daily site activities.
- Knowledgeable in electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.
- Ability to develop and maintain a worker orientation program for new employees.
- Commitment to enforcing public safety measures for non-construction personnel.
- Advanced understanding of OSHA regulations and experience with OSHA site visits.
- Proficient in managing and updating project schedules.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining quality control plans.
- Skilled in coordinating field inspections and maintaining inspection logs.
- Responsible for managing all company documentation requirements, including daily reports and safety talks.
- Participation in weekly coordination meetings and documentation of minutes.
- Reviewing monthly pay applications alongside the project manager.
- Ensuring compliance with all necessary insurances and certifications prior to project commencement.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all project stakeholders.
- Support the company's growth and foster a mutually beneficial relationship for both the organization and employees.
- Communicate clearly with project teams, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Encourage positive relationships with subcontractors and vendors through professional interactions.
Physical Requirements:
- Reliable transportation to project sites.
- Willingness to travel or relocate as necessary for project needs.
- Able to work in various outdoor conditions including extreme weather.
- Capable of accessing all areas of the job site, including heights and uneven surfaces.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, or positioning items up to 75 pounds.
Technical Proficiency:
- Proficient in using personal computers and mobile devices.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and construction-related software.
- Familiarity with web-based document management systems.
Qualifications:
- Preferred four-year degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the commercial construction sector.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage on-site project teams to successful outcomes.
