Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter/AVP to join our North American Excess Casualty Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of general casualty business by exercising proper underwriting discipline and marketing and servicing both existing and potential retail clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform account analysis according to Allied World (US) General Casualty guidelines
  • Develop account pricing, structure, and terms, and make recommendations
  • Perform and document referrals
  • Prepare quotes, binders, and underwriting worksheets within company guidelines
  • Maintain files in an orderly manner consistent with company guidelines
  • Delegate and supervise work to Account Coordinators as needed
  • Attend client meetings, lunches, dinners, and other social outings as applicable
  • Market to retailers within assigned region and engage production meetings
  • Work with Legal department for manuscript wording analysis and preparation as needed
  • Ability to interact with senior management on referral items, and willingness to train and work with UW Trainee and Junior Underwriters
Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills for both internal and external clients
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • 3+ years' experience in General Casualty underwriting
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and broker visits
  • CPCU designation or other applicable insurance designations are preferred
