The AVP - Liability Underwriting role is a pivotal position within our US Financial Lines division, focusing on the growth of our Miscellaneous Professional Liability portfolio. This position is designed for an experienced underwriter who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to contribute to the expansion of our wholesale business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite a diverse range of primary and excess miscellaneous professional liability risks, emphasizing new business development.
- Ensure compliance with company guidelines and underwriting authority while assessing new business accounts for risk acceptability, contractual terms, and pricing.
- Collaborate with the VP to monitor and enhance overall book performance and production metrics.
- Cultivate new business opportunities through established wholesale broker networks.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with wholesale brokers in designated territories.
- Represent the company at industry networking events and functions.
- Stay informed on legal and regulatory developments to support portfolio profitability.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in professional liability underwriting, with expertise in areas such as MPL, real estate, accounting, insurance agents, media, or technology.
- Proven track record of contributing to underwriting profitability.
- Ability to make independent decisions and take responsibility for outcomes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the professional liability market.
- Established connections with wholesale brokers.
- A proactive approach to identifying growth opportunities within the portfolio.
