Advanced Recovery Systems is a comprehensive behavioral healthcare management organization focused on treating addiction, substance abuse, and mental health challenges. We prioritize behavioral health, offering support to individuals facing substance use disorders and mental health issues.
Each facility within the Advanced Recovery Systems network is committed to delivering top-notch care, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches that yield positive outcomes. Our objective is to assist individuals in leading fulfilling lives free from the constraints of substance abuse and mental health disorders. The IAFF Center of Excellence is a pioneering rehabilitation center tailored specifically for firefighters. This 60-bed facility, situated on 15 acres near Washington, DC, provides firefighters and first responders the chance to receive treatment in a supportive environment, guided by clinicians experienced in working with these professionals.

The Chief Executive Officer is accountable for the overall operations and financial health of the assigned facility or facilities. This role encompasses overseeing all departments and functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering exceptional services to our patients and their families. The Site CEO will make key financial decisions, including expense approvals, with support from corporate functions in HR, IT, Finance, and Marketing. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations or Regional Director of Operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To ensure the success of the facility, the CEO will:
- Assume full responsibility for the overall operations and financial performance of the facility.
- Approve all expenditures and maintain comprehensive visibility into revenue and costs.
- Monitor departmental performance metrics to ensure alignment with company objectives, including medical, nursing, clinical, and behavioral health tech metrics. Collaborate with departmental leaders to develop performance improvement plans as necessary.
- Conduct bi-monthly one-on-one meetings with departmental leaders to review achievements and provide coaching for areas needing improvement.
- Foster a leadership team that aligns with corporate vision and procedures, encompassing admissions, staffing, business development, and financial services.
- Continuously identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to address these needs.
- Provide ongoing training to ensure the team effectively manages premature discharges.
- Ensure compliance with all state, joint commission, ASAM (if applicable), and insurance provider regulations.
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures among all staff.
- Promote a facility culture that is welcoming, inclusive, and focused on client needs.
- Ensure the leadership team is aligned and collaborates to achieve facility success.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and adherence to compliance activities related to accreditation standards and licensing regulations, including client rights.
- Ensure the facility passes state and joint commission audits with minimal areas for improvement, addressing any deficiencies as required by the accrediting agency.
- Ensure timely staff orientation, education, and supervision.
- Determine staffing needs and maintain effective staffing ratios based on census.
- Establish clear lines of responsibility and accountability within direct reporting departments.
- Provide relevant facility reporting information to appropriate leadership as needed.
- Manage plant operations to ensure the facility remains safe, secure, and well-maintained.
- Oversee payroll and invoice approvals for employees, contractors, and vendors.
- Coordinate with the business development team to strengthen and maintain relationships with community partners.
- Ensure all departments deliver exceptional service to patients and their families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Ability to analyze performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement while identifying areas for cost reduction and program enhancement.
Capability to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and licensing regulations.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with corporate leadership to determine staffing needs and conduct candidate interviews.

EDUCATION:
A Master's degree with five (5+) years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with ten (10+) years of relevant experience, or over ten (10+) years of experience in a Director-level role within the field.
With a Master's - five (5) years of full-time or equivalent administrative or supervisory experience in a licensed substance use disorders treatment facility.
With a Bachelor's - ten (10) years of full-time or equivalent administrative or supervisory experience in a licensed substance use disorders treatment facility.
Or ten (10+) years of experience in an administrative or supervisory director role in an addiction, psychiatric, or mental health licensed facility.
DESIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Basic First Aid
- CPR
- Ability to maintain licenses/certifications as required by company policies and state regulations.
