Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Research and Development (R&D) Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of the research and development process within our organization. As an R&D Manager, you will be responsible for driving innovation, improving existing products or processes, and developing new technologies that align with our strategic goals to achieve breakthroughs in product development and maintain our competitive edge in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and validation of algorithms that form the core of our products and technology.
- Work closely with software development, product teams, and external vendors on improvements and integration of these algorithms to meet customer requirements and specifications.
- Lead strategic R&D collaboration efforts, identifying key collaborators at leading universities and technical institutes, clinical organizations, and hospitals, and leading collaboration efforts with these stakeholders on our various current and planned products.
- Keep abreast with the latest technological developments, advancements, and trends in the industry and academic research that may be utilized in our products, and ensure timely translational adoption of such technological components.
- Participate in formulating a strategic product development roadmap for our various product lines.
- Recruit and retain relevant technical talent necessary to perform and execute various roles across different levels of the organization, and to expand technical capabilities.
- Coach, mentor, and train junior technical teams in various areas and enhance our capabilities to deliver innovative products.
- Work with internal product and external clinical teams to create, develop, and manage a strong intellectual property portfolio that enhances our position in the industry and protects our commercial interests in various jurisdictions.
- Identify grants and other types of funding opportunities, and draft and submit applications with various internal and external stakeholders and collaborators in a timely manner.
- Identify external trade-shows, conferences, and events for us to participate and prepare product demonstrations to engage and attract key target audience members.
- Lead technical experimentation, project management, including data analysis, drafting, and publication of results in key scientific publications.
- SOURCE AND MANAGE KEY SUPPLIERS AND VENDORS FOR R&D PROJECTS, INCLUDING ALL TECHNICAL AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT ASPECTS.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Science, Technology). A Master's or Ph.D. in a related discipline is preferred.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in managing and leading an R&D team in a corporate or research setting.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, set clear objectives, and drive results.
- In-depth knowledge of the research and development process, including market research, prototyping, testing, and commercialization.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully launching innovative products or technologies in the market.
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
