Job Overview

AXIS Automation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Mechanical Engineer to lead the development and ongoing engineering support of automated food processing equipment projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing innovative solutions that meet industry requirements for performance, cost-effectiveness, accuracy, functionality, performance, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop automated food processing equipment that meets customer requirements and internal goals
  • Lead design engineering teams on larger projects and collaborate with production, quality, sales, and marketing teams to investigate and analyze nonconforming product
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties by identifying root cause and devising corrective actions
  • Research and analyze customer requests for proposals to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and after-market service requirements of designs or applications
  • Develop and maintain design requirements, bills of material, schematics, and all necessary documentation
  • Release engineering orders to meet customer requirements and internal goals
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent (or equivalent work experience)
  • 10+ years of experience in conveying, food, and/or automation manufacturing environments
  • Experience in designing mechanical components (weldments, shafts, bearings, and pneumatics)
  • Experience in machine design
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels and functional areas, including customers and suppliers
  • Good problem solver with the ability to analyze data
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of ERP or MRP process systems is a plus
  • Ability to travel (approximately 25%)

Physical Requirements
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Requires the use of PPE, including eye protection while in manufacturing areas
