Job Summary:

The Alabama Department of Education is seeking a qualified School Counselor to provide guidance and support to students in a school setting. This role involves working with students, teachers, and parents to promote academic success and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement guidance programs to support student academic and personal development
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students, addressing issues such as academic achievement, social relationships, and personal well-being
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to develop and implement strategies to support student success
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and provide support as needed
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in school counseling and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in School Counseling or related field
  • Valid teaching certification or equivalent
  • Experience working with students in a school setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
