Salary Information:

  • Level I: $37,280.75 + Full State Employee Benefits
  • Level II: $40,077.79 + Full State Employee Benefits
  • Level III: $43,968.62 + Full State Employee Benefits

Candidates with a Master's Degree in Social Work may be eligible for an additional 5% salary incentive. On-call positions receive a bonus ranging from $100 to $150 every two weeks, depending on responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Investigate allegations of child abuse or neglect and provide protective services to ensure child safety.

  2. Preserve and strengthen protective capacities of parents to prevent unnecessary out-of-home placements.

  3. Provide placements for children that meet their medical, educational, and physical needs.

  4. Returns children to their own homes as soon as possible and arranges a permanent plan when return is not feasible.

New Employees will complete the Child Welfare Core Academy Training Program, which includes:

Treatment and preventive services training;

Visiting children in placement and conducting assessments;

Referring families and children to community services;

Participating in investigations and preparing case reports;

Attending court hearings and providing testimony;

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Completion of 90 hours from an accredited college or university;

  2. or 3 years of experience related to child welfare work;

  3. or A combination of education and experience.
