Job Summary

Jones Lang LaSalle IP, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Critical Facilities Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing and designing risk mitigation programs and procedures to ensure maximum uptime in a complex data center environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and design risk mitigation programs and procedures to ensure maximum uptime in a complex data center environment.
  • Provide leadership, management, and technical oversight for the client's data center portfolio, including critical environments and associated equipment & systems.
  • Ensure proper engineering procedures and standards are maintained to ensure safe and efficient operation of facilities within budget.
  • Support the Building Engineers in their day-to-day operations and maintenance of critical infrastructure.
  • Report abnormal or critical conditions to relevant client and JLL management.
  • Develop contingency plans for equipment failure and demonstrate strong leadership during incident management.
  • Review metrics and compare against industry benchmarks to meet or exceed KPIs.
  • Establish scopes and appoint resources for programs and projects, ensuring business requirements, performance specifications, planning, cost, safety, and resources are addressed.
  • Establish engineering processes and procedures and provide oversight for engineering team at all staffed sites.
  • Provide management and engineering support for utility/electrical/mechanical switching scripts and procedures.
  • Contribute to annual financial plans by identifying unforeseen emergency expenditures throughout the year.
  • Monitor and report cost savings and value-add opportunities for the region.
  • Deliver monthly reports, dashboards, and equipment status updates to JLL management and the client.
  • Collaborate with project management on projects and construction activities supporting critical operations.
  • Review and comment on engineering design documents and provide recommendations on electrical systems for data centers.
  • Ensure proper closeout and commissioning procedures are followed, and operational drawings and configuration management are maintained.
  • Establish training and monitoring programs for Operations staff and contractors working in critical facilities.
  • Ensure safety protocols and emergency training plans are followed and documented.
  • Lead or participate in special engineering studies, audits, and analysis for the client's portfolio.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in critical operations.
  • Strong familiarity and working knowledge of critical equipment and technical expertise in electrical systems, HVAC, IT systems, and critical environments.
  • Availability for 24/7 support of critical operations and events.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in negotiating contracts and preparing RFPs related to critical infrastructure maintenance activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical individuals.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Experience supervising or overseeing the work of building engineers, electricians, IT specialists, mechanics, and vendor contracts & personnel.
