Job Description

**About the Role**

Alert Alarm and National Fire Protection (Alert Alarm) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced **VP, Operations** to lead our day-to-day operations and drive strategic growth. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing all operations activities, formulating strategic plans, and leading business development/sales activities to ensure the company achieves both short and long-term growth and operations goals.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • **Lead Operations Activities**: Oversee the successful execution of all installation activities and ongoing service contracts, ensuring seamless delivery of services to our clients.
  • **Manage Operations Team**: Directly supervise the Installation and Service teams, providing guidance and support to ensure the team's success.
  • **Collaborate with Leadership**: Work closely with the President and other leadership to ensure the organization meets growth, revenue, and EBITDA targets, as well as overall performance metrics.
  • **Business Development**: Work closely with the sales team to secure long-term service contracts and ensure repeat business, driving revenue growth and profitability.
  • **Operational Excellence**: Provide efficient operational execution, driving a culture of innovation to create and deliver first-in-class operations means and methods.
  • **Strategic Planning**: Participate in company strategy and strategic execution of the company's vision, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • **Client Relationships**: Work closely with the President to ensure service excellence, developing new delivery standards to deliver value to customers.
  • **Talent Management**: Hire, reward, coach, develop, and retain talented staff to ensure the company's superior performance for the long-term.
  • **Industry Expertise**: Remain abreast of fire and life safety industry changes, quickly responding to any significant changes that may impact operations.
  • **Strategic Growth**: Work closely with the President and senior management team to develop and employ a strategic approach to expand operations and support corporate growth via merger and acquisition opportunities.
  • **Resource Allocation**: Ensure adequate resources are available and allocate resources to meet demand, maximizing profitability.
  • **Project Delivery**: Through project delivery excellence and management, deliver high-value service to current and future customers, creating an environment of continuous improvement.
  • **Industry Representation**: Serve as the company representative to the fire and life safety industry, developing strong business relationships with current clients, potential new clients, community leaders, and industry groups to benefit the company as a whole.
  • **Business Development**: Support business development and new client pursuits, leveraging pre-existing business relationships within the industry to create new opportunities.
  • **Executive Leadership**: Participate in executive meetings and contribute to the vision, goals, and objectives of the company.
  • **Communication**: Create and maintain a strong level of communication, collaboration, and team effort, ensuring seamless execution of operations activities.
  • **Risk Management**: Ensure strict adherence to safety and risk management policies and procedures, protecting the company and its stakeholders.

**Qualifications**

  • **Education**: Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or equivalent business leadership experience.
  • **Experience**: 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in managing a customer-focused, commercial services business.
  • **Leadership Skills**: Highly motivated leader with proven experience contributing to the strategic success of division or corporate operations within a commercial services business.
  • **Business Acumen**: Demonstrated success in service delivery, client relationships, and profitability, with experience managing multiple services projects simultaneously.
  • **Strategic Planning**: Experience with strategic and operational planning and client relations, with a proven track record of driving business growth and profitability.
  • **Leadership**: Strong leadership skills with the ability to closely manage client relationships with finesse and provide conflict resolution as needed.
  • **Contract Negotiation**: Experience negotiating service contracts, including knowledge of various contract forms and dispute resolution activities.
  • **Operational Strategy**: Proven business development and client identification/pursuit experience, including the ability to secure repeat business and build long-term relationships.
  • **Problem-Solving**: Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and manage processes to achieve goals.
  • **Process Improvement**: Experience with process improvements and creating optimal structures resulting in increased efficiency to maximize profitability.
  • **Industry Expertise**: Active participation in relevant industry associations, with a strong understanding of the fire and life safety industry.
  • **Leadership Skills**: Proven leadership skills with demonstrated successful experience managing staff organizations, inspiring a team, and overseeing recruitment, employee development, and retention.
  • **Attention to Detail**: Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • **Integrity**: Must have a personal commitment to organizational excellence, displaying honesty, integrity, and a strong sense of ethics in all decisions and actions.
  • **Analytical Skills**: Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional interpersonal skills at all levels.
