Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Correctional Treatment Specialist to join our team at the Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in fostering a humane and secure environment, ensuring public safety, and preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide group and individual counseling to inmates with targeted psychological problems.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to address the needs of inmates with serious mental illnesses.
  • Conduct program orientation lectures and administer questionnaires to obtain information about inmates.
  • Identify deficiencies and excesses in inmates' patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior, and recommend steps to remediate them.
  • Stay up-to-date with new assessment and treatment techniques to help inmates overcome psychological problems.
Requirements
  • A degree in a behavioral or social science field, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge.
  • At least one year of specialized experience in casework, counseling, or treating individuals in need of social rehabilitation.
  • Graduate education in corrections or a related field, such as criminal justice, sociology, psychology, or social work.
