About the Team
The Global Health Program (GH) leverages advancements in science and technology to enhance health outcomes in low- and middle-income nations. We address critical health challenges that often receive insufficient attention and funding. Our approach includes supporting sustainable delivery of proven health tools and investing in research and development for new interventions, including vaccines, medications, and diagnostic tools. Our focus areas include combating HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases, and other significant health threats.
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will design and implement advanced communication strategies that encompass media relations, message development, editorial planning, and content creation. You will provide strategic communication guidance to program colleagues, grantees, and partners, fostering awareness and support for the foundation's initiatives. Your experience will include managing a diverse portfolio of grants and contracts that align with programmatic, policy, advocacy, and communication objectives.
Key Duties Include:
- Collaborating with leadership and program teams to define communication objectives and strategies that support program goals through various media channels.
- Overseeing communication priorities, maintaining a communications calendar, and providing regular updates on progress.
- Keeping program teams informed about media coverage related to the foundation and its grantees, while establishing media relations with key journalists.
- Engaging with colleagues across the foundation to enhance communication efforts in alignment with program priorities.
- Partnering with the earned media lead to address media inquiries and create proactive engagement opportunities.
- Working with development partners to craft a unified narrative around foundation issues and collaborating with the digital team to create relevant content.
- Providing communication support to elevate priority issues and manage potential reputational risks.
- Building a coalition of third-party voices to amplify priority issues and align messaging strategies.
- Creating essential communication materials, including newsletters, key messages, website content, and briefing documents.
- Leading vendor collaborations for grantee communication projects to ensure successful outcomes.
- Developing messaging frameworks to support speaking engagements and media opportunities.
- Coordinating communication grants and contracts to further program priorities.
- Promoting an inclusive culture through proactive behaviors and timely issue escalation.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Expertise in strategic communication development, planning, and execution.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, ensuring timely completion and attention to detail.
- Experience in nonprofit, advocacy, or political communication environments.
