Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Branch Chief of Mobility & Systems Performance, a Senior Transportation Engineer (Supervisor), the incumbent, a Transportation Engineer (Civil), supports the Managed Lanes, the Ramp Metering, and the Park and Ride Facility programs in the Mobility Strategies Branch. The incumbent provides support for developing program plans, policy, and guidance; technical analysis; regular status reporting functions; tracking statewide workload standard and program goals to support the annual budgeting process; and program-related research project development and technical training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement program plans, policies, and guidance for the Managed Lanes, Ramp Metering, and Park and Ride Facility programs.
  • Provide technical analysis and support for program-related research projects and technical training.
  • Track statewide workload standards and program goals to support the annual budgeting process.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including federal and state agencies, local governments, and private sector organizations.
Working Conditions

The position is located in Sacramento, Sacramento County. The incumbent works in a climate-controlled office under natural and artificial lighting. Due to periodic issues with heating and air conditioning, building temperatures may fluctuate. Multi-floor buildings are equipped with elevators and stairs.

The incumbent may be required to travel periodically to other office buildings (federal and state offices, district offices, local agencies, etc.) and indoor/outdoor field locations. While at field locations, the incumbent may be exposed to uneven surfaces, noise, and varying climate conditions. The incumbent may be required to travel within the state and may be required to travel out-of-state for business operations.

Requirements
  • A valid Professional Engineering License is required.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License is required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle.
  • Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
