Job Overview

SUMMARY: The Electronics Technician plays a crucial role in the upkeep, troubleshooting, and functionality of intricate underwater search and recovery technologies. This position requires collaboration within a team while also being capable of managing tasks independently.

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in the operation, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of electrical and electronic components in advanced search systems (including Side-Scan Sonar, Towed Pinger Locators, and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) and recovery systems (Remotely Operated Vehicles).
  • Support the troubleshooting of both surface and subsurface positioning systems.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and documentation.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of side-scan sonar data.
  • Operate and assist in piloting ROVs and managing ROV manipulators.
  • Fulfill all requirements for watch standing during search and recovery missions.
  • Contribute to the development of search and recovery strategies.
  • Support the mobilization and demobilization of subsea systems on offshore vessels.
  • Assist with the launch and recovery of subsea systems on offshore platforms.
  • Adhere to company policies and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a two-year associate's degree in electronics or equivalent experience of four years.
  • A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing sophisticated electronic systems such as computers, microprocessors, and control circuits.
  • Proficient in using testing equipment including oscilloscopes and electrical testers.
  • Familiarity with high voltage systems and automation technologies.
  • Understanding of network structures, including TCP/IP and UDP communications.
  • Capability to solder components of various sizes.
  • Knowledge of both digital and analog electronic systems.
  • Ability to interpret and troubleshoot from schematics.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
  • Strong teamwork skills with attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
  • Understanding of safety practices in offshore environments.
  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Willingness to travel internationally on short notice.
  • Physical capability to work safely in various environments and handle equipment.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings as required.
