Job Title: Lead Data Warehouse Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Warehouse Architect to join our team at Mount Sinai Health System. As a key member of our Scientific Computing group, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of a scalable, high-availability, high-performance data warehouse.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement a research-oriented clinical data warehouse for researchers and clinicians.
  • Oversee the ongoing operations, maintenance, and upgrades for data pipelines and ETL jobs for the integration of data from the Epic Caboodle into an Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) common data model database.
  • Ensure that MSDW data is provided to on-premise self-service query tools such as Leaf, ATLAS, TriNetX, MS Power BI, and to national research projects such as INSIGHT and N3C.
  • Maintain the confidentiality, privacy, and integrity of all healthcare data. Comply with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures, including those of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Compliance, HIPAA and New York State laws, and IT Security.
  • Develop the standards, automated procedures, and documentation for database and ETL design, including management, monitoring, upgrades, quality control, and quality assurance and maintenance.
  • Establish the strategy for optimized database performance, stored procedures, ETL jobs, and related scripts in coordination with the DBA.
  • Serve as a technical mentor to team members and act as a technical project leader.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Eight years minimum experience in the design and administration of relational databases and ETL processes in diverse technological environments.
  • Knowledge and experience of ETL development best practices, including explicit source-to-target mappings, pattern-based and parameter-driven development, and rigorous version control.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and dimensional data modeling principles and best practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft SSIS, Visual Studio, and database administration.
  • Strong SQL development skills, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, sequences, and queries with advanced SQL.
  • Experience working with healthcare data, including electronic health records, medical and pharmacy claims, and healthcare cost accounting systems.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal and written communication, to effectively interact with researchers, clinicians, hospital administrators, and other IT personnel.
