Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement a scalable, high-availability, high-performance data warehouse to support translational research and clinical care.
  • Oversee the ongoing operations, maintenance, and upgrades of data pipelines and ETL jobs for integrating data from Epic Caboodle into an Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) common data model database.
  • Ensure that Mount Sinai Data Warehouse (MSDW) data is provided to on-premise self-service query tools and national research projects.
  • Maintain the confidentiality, privacy, and integrity of all healthcare data, complying with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop standards, automated procedures, and documentation for database and ETL design, including management, monitoring, upgrades, quality control, and quality assurance.
  • Establish the strategy for optimized database performance, stored procedures, ETL jobs, and related scripts in coordination with the DBA.
  • Serve as a technical mentor to team members and act as a technical project leader.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Eight years of experience in designing and administering relational databases and ETL processes in diverse technological environments.
  • Knowledge and experience of ETL development best practices, relational and dimensional data modeling principles, and database administration.
  • Strong SQL development skills, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, sequences, and queries with advanced SQL.
  • Experience working with healthcare data, electronic health records, medical and pharmacy claims, and healthcare cost accounting systems.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with researchers, clinicians, hospital administrators, and other IT personnel.
