Job Summary

The Akima company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paralegal Professional to provide professional, accurate, timely, and reliable paralegal support reporting to the Office of General Counsel (OGC).

The successful candidate will be detailed to assist the Litigation and Investigations Branch (LITB) or the International and Acquisition Law Branch (IALB).

Key Responsibilities

The Paralegal Professional will be responsible for receiving, prioritizing, and processing requests such as document review or requests for advice or legal technical assistance.

They will research and locate responsive information documents and identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles.

The Paralegal Professional will perform typical Paralegal functions, including moderately complex legal research; synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviewing case-related materials; and identifying potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation.

They will write preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence.

The Paralegal Professional will assist in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.; conducting legal analysis, reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.

They will review materials in discovery for relevancy and privilege.

The Paralegal Professional will prepare privilege logs.

They will maintain documentation of records produced in discovery, correspondence sent, and case management functions performed.

The Paralegal Professional will assist in the drafting and issuing of preservation notices and litigation holds.

They will design, generate, and transmit reports regarding case assignments and productivity using case management databases.

Requirements

An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required for consideration.

A Law degree is desired, but not required.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five or more years of litigation paralegal experience with trial experience.

They will have successfully completed a Paralegal degree or certificate.

The Paralegal Professional will have experience using independent decision-making, good judgment, and discretion in handling highly confidential and sensitive information.

They will have demonstrated experience using excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

The successful candidate will have experience using strong project management skills.

They will have demonstrated experience with adaptive and flexible work style with the ability to adjust to changing priorities and work well under pressure.

The Paralegal Professional will have experience utilizing superior organizational skills.

They will have excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

The successful candidate will have experience working in an efficient and detail-oriented environment.

They will have demonstrated experience with performing multiple projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.

The Paralegal Professional will have excellent grammatical, editing, and proofreading skills.

They will have experience using relational databases to record, organize, and retrieve information.
