Key Responsibilities:
Operation of nuclear imaging apparatus and administration of radioisotopes to patients to ensure high-quality diagnostic scans. This includes:
1) Retrieving patients as necessary.
2) Accurately positioning and securing patients for imaging.
3) Processing images using advanced workstations and systems.
4) Maintaining a clean and well-stocked work environment.
5) Preparing studies for radiologist review.
6) Coordinating with scheduling to avoid conflicts with other procedures.
7) Providing necessary information to administrative staff for patient billing.
8) Operating nuclear imaging equipment to capture quality scans and assess radioactive isotope concentrations in specific body regions.
9) Collecting patient history for documentation and technique sheets.
10) Calculating and interpreting test results for radiologist evaluation.


Ensuring compliance with state and accreditation standards regarding radiation safety to protect both patients and staff. This includes maintaining accurate records for the handling of radioactive materials:
1) Conducting quality assurance checks on equipment to guarantee safe and precise operation as mandated by regulatory bodies.
2) Adhering to radiation safety protocols as outlined by regulatory agencies.
3) Keeping detailed records of the acquisition and use of isotopes and radioactive materials.
4) Ordering necessary radioisotope supplies for scheduled examinations.
5) Administering the correct dosages of radioisotopes to patients.
6) Upholding hospital and departmental safety policies.
7) Implementing standard safety precautions consistently.
8) Promoting patient safety by reporting concerns through established channels and engaging in safety initiatives.

Commitment to department standards for image quality and safety practices:
1) Properly labeling all images according to departmental criteria.
2) Verifying image quality before patient discharge.
3) Documenting relevant information on performance improvement logs.
4) Ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
5) Actively promoting patient safety by reporting issues and participating in safety initiatives.

Delivering exceptional service to patients and all stakeholders:
1) Treating all patients and customers with dignity and empathy.
2) Utilizing professional phone etiquette.
3) Creating a private environment for patient interactions.
4) Maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies.
5) Clearly explaining procedures relevant to the examinations being conducted.

1) Adhering to a consistent and professional work schedule.
2) Staying updated on advancements in Nuclear Medicine.

Education and Experience Required:
Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with various nuclear imaging devices; CPR certification.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:


Exposure to radiation; on-call duties; ability to work with minimal supervision; capacity to make independent professional judgments; managing fluctuating patient volumes; strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients. -Flexibility in work hours is required. -Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and technical proficiency.

This role involves direct patient care and includes the following lifting requirements: Ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently. For lifting patients over 35 pounds, or when patients are unable to assist, appropriate handling equipment should be utilized with assistance from another staff member when available. Unique patient handling scenarios will be evaluated individually.
