Procurement Specialist

At Sterling Engineering Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of mechanical components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and process Bills of Materials (BOMs) released by the Mechanical Engineering group to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Select vendors and write purchase orders to meet project requirements.
  • Obtain quotations and process orders to procure mechanical components, negotiating pricing to ensure best value for the company.
  • Expedite orders as needed to meet project deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of components.
  • Interface with the Mechanical Engineering group to ensure smooth project execution, providing regular updates on procurement progress.
  • Monitor and report on project costs and delivery schedules, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure consistent quality and service, negotiating contracts to meet company needs.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned, contributing to the success of the procurement team.
Requirements
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and material requirements, ensuring accurate procurement of components.
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills, with the ability to analyze complex procurement scenarios.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software, with experience in procurement systems a plus.
  • Experience sourcing electrical components is a plus, with knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices.
