Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Journeyman to join our Deer Valley Substation Maintenance Team at Arizona Public Service (APS). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing high-voltage substation duties, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform journeyman-level high voltage substation duties, including maintenance, repair, and testing of substation equipment.
  • Work with aerial equipment, adhering to weight restrictions of 300 lbs or less.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective completion of tasks.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Meet all DOT requirements and maintain a valid manual Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completed a Registered Electrician Apprenticeship Program or equivalent training program, plus one year of experience as an Electrician.
  • Valid manual Class A CDL with no mechanical restrictions.
  • Ability to live within a reasonable distance (one hour) from assigned Headquarters.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Considerable experience performing journeyman-level high voltage substation duties with an electric utility or other entity operating and maintaining high voltage substation equipment.
  • Experienced in writing and executing switching orders, and basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
