About the Role

The Power Plant Operator will play a crucial role in supporting the overall operation of the hydro-electric power plant and the associated water intakes to maximize the reliability and efficiency of the electrical generating system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily plant and intake inspections to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Start and stop the generating units and auxiliary equipment per established procedures to maintain a stable power supply.
  • Conduct safety inspections and monitor security systems, keeping accurate logs and reports to identify areas for improvement.
  • Operate heavy equipment and hand tools, including chain saws, to perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Work on a rotating schedule to cover weekend duty and holidays, ensuring 24/7 operation of the power plant.
  • Assist in developing plant safety procedures and JSA procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors in the performance of their activities to ensure timely completion and quality of work.
  • Participate in safety programs developed by the company to promote a culture of safety and well-being.
Requirements
  • At least two years of related experience in a power plant or industrial setting, preferably with instrumentation and control system experience.
  • An unwavering commitment to safety, both for Eagle Creek Renewable Energy employees and contractors, and the public in general.
  • Ability to communicate and report all downtime-related events in a timely manner to the regional manager.
  • Experience with basic industrial maintenance techniques and Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Outlook, etc.) for use in business communication.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, with a vocational certificate or degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting at least 50 lbs, bending, and maneuvering in tight spaces.
  • Comfortability working in hot, noisy, and dark environments, often alone and isolated.
  • Ability to work with and wear respiratory protection, and to read and identify labels, gauges, dials, and indicators.
  • Possess clear and effective verbal communication in all circumstances, including emergency situations and giving/receiving instructions over a radio.
