Job Title: Surgical Nurse Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Nurse Specialist to join our team at International SOS Government Medical Services. As a Surgical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive health services to DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, and implement individualized patient care plans based on patient needs and physicians' orders.
- Monitor and document patients' vital signs, symptoms, and progress, and report any changes to the medical team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while adhering to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and specialists, to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and post-operative care.
- Provide wound care, manage drains, and assist with daily living activities as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment, adhering to infection control standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety.
- Stay current with best nursing practices and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Maintain compliance with all project site procedures, standards, and continuing educational and mandatory training requirements.
Qualifications:
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- 3+ years' experience, 6 months RN experience within the past year, experience abroad or in austere environment preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
Education Required:
- Associates, Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing. Candidates must be a graduate of a school of nursing that was approved and/or accredited by the appropriate State agency and accredited by either the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) at the time the program was completed.
Physical Requirements:
- Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Valid US Passport with at least 6 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically a MRPT. Applicants with current clearances are preferred.
- Must be able to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the project.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.

Compensation: Min: 80,000 Max: 105,000
Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
Benefits: Full-time positions are eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Additional benefits include a 401k plan paid time off and an annual bonus. International SOS complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.
