Position Overview: Respiratory Therapist
The Respiratory Therapist is a certified professional responsible for delivering respiratory care to patients in various settings, adhering to AdaptHealth's established policies and procedures. The care provided will encompass preventive, rehabilitative, and palliative approaches. The Respiratory Therapist will leverage all available resources within the organization and the community to achieve optimal care outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately complete all required documentation and charting in accordance with ACHC standards and company protocols.
- Review and update Plans of Treatment and Care Plans to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Document patient responses to procedures, including tolerance levels and any side effects.
- Assist in obtaining authorizations for CPAP/BiPAP referrals.
- Demonstrate proficiency in respiratory equipment and apply this knowledge effectively in clinical scenarios.
- Exhibit troubleshooting skills for equipment issues encountered in the field.
- Manage inventory of CPAP/BiPAP supplies for the sleep center.
- Apply assessment skills and clinical expertise during patient set-ups, follow-ups, and training sessions.
- Engage in discharge planning for complex cases.
- Conduct clinical assessments as necessary and communicate findings and recommendations to referring physicians.
- Facilitate smooth transitions for patients and caregivers during discharges.
- Provide training sessions for hospital staff and other professionals regarding equipment and clinical matters.
- Maintain communication with physicians and referrals regarding patient progress, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Adhere to safety protocols regarding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), infection control, and hazardous materials.
- Be available for on-call duties outside of regular business hours as per company policy.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
- Valid and unrestricted RT clinical license in all states serviced by the branch, or an Associate's degree in Nursing with a valid and unrestricted LPN or RN license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist, Home Medical Equipment RT, or in clinical nursing with ventilator experience.
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license.
