Position Overview:
As the initial point of contact for patients at our medical facility, the Patient Care Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience. This position is tailored for those employed within an outpatient setting. Responsibilities include greeting and checking in patients, verifying their information, scheduling appointments, and updating the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Additionally, the Coordinator facilitates the intake process by assisting with the completion of healthcare and insurance forms and collecting payments for services rendered.

Building trust and rapport with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals is essential. This is achieved through proficient job performance and effective communication skills.

Compliance with all organizational, local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures is mandatory to ensure patient privacy and safety while delivering exceptional care.

Occasionally, the Coordinator may be tasked with specific duties or training new staff members within the department. Travel between various locations may be required as necessary.


Job Description:

EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience may be considered in place of the required degree or diploma.

High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
1 year of recent relevant experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Basic understanding of insurance policies and procedures, alongside patient billing practices.
Ability to interpret diverse data and instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled formats.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members, supervisors, patients, and other healthcare personnel.

Well-developed time management and organizational abilities, including the capacity to prioritize tasks and operate within established policies and procedures to meet objectives and deadlines.

General proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook). The ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team member is essential, including managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Ability to identify, assess, and resolve standard issues by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
Ensuring the confidentiality of each patient's Protected Health Information (PHI) is paramount. Cultivating collaborative relationships with peers and other staff members is vital to achieving departmental and organizational goals.
