We are seeking a skilled Electrical Instrument Technician to join our team at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. As an Electrical Instrument Technician, you will be responsible for performing skilled manual work in the repair and maintenance of plant process control equipment, power distribution systems, voice and data communication networks, and directing the work of assigned Electrical Instrument and Testing Mechanics.
Responsibilities- Repair and maintain plant process control equipment, power distribution systems, and voice and data communication networks.
- Direct the work of assigned Electrical Instrument and Testing Mechanics.
- Ensure compliance with MWRD Safety Rules and general safety practices and procedures.
- Supervise and coordinate work, including basic mathematical computations.
- Develop and implement plans for the maintenance and repair of plant process control equipment, power distribution systems, and voice and data communication networks.
- One year of service with the District as an Electrical Instrument and Testing Mechanic.
- Civil service status in that class.
- Ability to pass a written test assessing knowledge, skill, and ability in areas such as MWRD Safety Rules, general safety practices and procedures, planning, scheduling, and coordinating work, supervision, basic computer knowledge, reading comprehension, and interpersonal and written communication skills.
The examination will consist of a written test weighted 90%, an efficiency rating weighted 5%, and a seniority rating weighted 5%. The minimum passing score on the written test will be 70% unless determined otherwise by the Director of Human Resources. Candidates must achieve a passing score on each test to have their names placed on the eligible list.
Eligible ListAppointments will be made from an eligible list with three categories: A (Exceptionally Well Qualified), B (Well Qualified), and C (Qualified). Candidates in the highest category will be given first consideration for appointment. The eligible list has a duration of three years.
