Maintenance Worker

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented General Maintenance Worker to join our team at USC Housing. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of our properties, providing excellent customer service to our students, faculty, and staff, and working collaboratively with our team to achieve our goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on appliances, fixtures, and equipment, including air conditioners, heaters, refrigerators, stoves, ovens, and dishwashers.
- Troubleshoot and repair or replace appliance parts and perform repairs on commercial kitchen equipment, such as walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, dish machine conveyor belts, slicers, dishwashers, electric ranges, etc.
- Maintain appliance part inventory and ensure that all necessary tools and equipment are available.
- Build interior walls, fabricate cabinets, drawers, and screens, assemble furniture, and repair or replace closet doors, drawers, non-fire rated doors, door locks, closers, and hinges, tiles, bathroom fixtures, etc.
- Install safety restraints on cabinets and furniture, patch and stretch carpet, replace broken windows and ceiling tiles, and perform caulking.
- Repair or replace light bulbs, ballasts, switches, plugs, light fixtures, etc., maintain room wiring systems and emergency exit signs, adjust timers, test and replace smoke detectors and emergency lights, and secure electrical wires.
- Prepare walls for painting, patch holes, replace drywall, paint, stain, and refinish woodwork, such as wall paneling and furniture, etc.
- Repair or replace various plumbing fixtures and hardware, such as faucets, shower fixtures, water fountains, garbage disposals, sinks, and toilets.
- Unclog sluggish or stopped drains, including main drains, and perform minor repairs on water heaters.
- Perform light welding, light vehicle maintenance, and utility work, such as installing or removing posts and signs, patching street holes with asphalt, repairing gates, etc.

- Minimum Education: Specialized or technical training. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
- Minimum Experience: month.
- Minimum Field of Expertise: Knowledge of thermodynamic laws, refrigerator cycles, electricity principles, test/detection instruments, hand/power tools, wood finishing, AC/DC currents, wiring, painting, construction, and plumbing.
- Valid CA driver's license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment. For more information, please visit the policy website.

FIGHT ON
The hourly rate for this position is $25.50.
