About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Surgical Technician to join our Orthopaedics team. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain medical equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of the operating room, setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
  • Follow hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patients during pre-operation procedures.
  • Perform pre-operation preparations to patients' skin, body, and medical equipment.
  • Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment, adjusting and checking it to ensure it is working properly.
  • Get patients ready for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites.
  • Transport patients to the operating room, help position them on the operating table, and cover them with sterile surgical drapes.
  • Observe patients' vital signs, check charts, and assist the surgical team with putting on sterile gowns and gloves.
  • Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants.
  • Hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments.
  • Help prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and help apply dressings.
  • Operate sterilizers, lights, or suction machines, and help operate diagnostic equipment.
  • After an operation, help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room.
Requirements:
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certification.
  • Experience in Orthopaedics, preferably in a hospital or surgical setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
