The Operations Team Leader is accountable for overseeing labor management, inbound and outbound logistics, product organization, and daily customer communication activities. This includes labor scheduling, space optimization, and resource allocation.
Key responsibilities include recruiting and training staff, planning and delegating daily tasks, conducting performance evaluations, addressing performance challenges, and resolving operational issues.
Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, the Team Leader ensures the effective management of receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations in alignment with company service and cost objectives.
As part of the DSV team, employees are expected to meet performance, safety, and quality standards while adhering to corporate and site-specific policies.
Core Responsibilities:
- Facilitate staff meetings to discuss work activities and promote continuous improvement.
- Keep senior management and client representatives updated on critical operational issues.
- Develop systems and procedures for safe and profitable management of operations, equipment, and products in accordance with company policies.
- Manage operations to achieve productivity and service goals while complying with client agreements.
- Implement ongoing cost-saving initiatives and suggest improvements for operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with client-specific KPIs and quality system requirements.
- Apply effective communication and motivational techniques to supervise and support team members.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to create hiring, training, and professional development programs.
- Oversee the training and evaluation of warehouse staff.
- Plan daily work schedules based on work orders and customer instructions, prioritizing tasks according to urgency and available resources.
- Monitor job performance and provide guidance as necessary.
- Conduct regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess overall performance and discuss improvement ideas.
- Assist in physical operations as needed and maintain high motivation levels among team members to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.
- Support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train team members accordingly.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a logistics or distribution environment.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and RF Scanners.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and work flexible hours as needed.
Work Environment:
- The role may involve occasional exposure to varying temperatures and physical demands such as lifting and carrying.
