General Manager Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to lead our team at Mainstay Suites Murfreesboro. As a seasoned operations leader, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of hotel operations, including financial performance, quality product and service levels, and compliance with state, federal, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of department heads to achieve hotel goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement sales plans and budgets to maximize revenue.
  • Ensure high-quality product and service levels through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Manage financial performance, including forecasting, budgeting, and expense control.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales to conduct daily ABR meetings and develop sales strategies.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including training sessions and review of previous and future sales and operations efforts.
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with department managers and available supervisors.
  • Ensure that all department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and Aimbridge Hospitality's standard checkbook accounting procedures.
  • Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate sponsored training programs.
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled.
  • Maintain direct contact with and monitor the development of management trainees.
  • Adhere to all Aimbridge Hospitality policies and procedures and train new managers to ensure compliance.

Requirements:

  • At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or a related field.
  • Must be proficient in Windows operating systems, Company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying, and resolving the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
