Position Overview:

The Braselton Pulmonary/Hospice unit comprises 24 beds, catering to patients with pulmonary conditions and those requiring hospice care. Our Registered Nurses are proficient in hospice practices and manage various drips and medications associated with this specialty.

Role Summary:

We seek a skilled clinician with prior specialty experience, committed to advancing their expertise. The RN will deliver effective direct care as part of a multidisciplinary team, addressing the needs of complex patients. This role involves seeking and providing constructive feedback to enhance clinical practices. The RN will also engage in a leadership capacity at the bedside and pursue mentorship opportunities. Participation in the Professional Nursing Governance Council (PNGC) is expected, contributing insights on relevant issues discussed in meetings. Active involvement in PNGC councils and Nursing Quality Teams is encouraged, focusing on improving nursing-sensitive indicators, RN satisfaction, employee engagement, safety culture, and patient experience metrics. Collaboration with fellow team members is essential for recruiting and retaining a high-quality nursing staff. For new graduate RNs, the emphasis will be on developing competencies and demonstrating growth in managing increasingly complex patient cases. Responsibilities include delivering direct and safe patient care based on the nursing process and coordinating care for assigned patients to achieve optimal clinical outcomes. Consultation with seasoned clinicians is required, and feedback should be viewed as a vital tool for professional growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Must be licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia.
  • Education: Associate Nursing Degree is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year as a professional RN. New graduates or those with less than one (1) year of experience will be directed to the RN Residency Program.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensure: National certification in clinical specialty as eligible.
  • Education: Bachelor of Nursing Degree is preferred.
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
  • Other: Membership in a professional organization is desirable.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Skills: Demonstrates assessment skills and medication administration rights. Manages care for patients with increasing complexity. Accurately documents nursing processes using electronic medical records. Complies with DNV standards and policies. Evaluates patient responses and adjusts care plans as necessary.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Involves patients and families in care decisions. Provides effective education tailored to patient needs. Demonstrates exemplary customer service.
  • Critical Thinking: Plans care based on assessments and prioritizes effectively. Recognizes signs of patient deterioration and takes appropriate action. Engages in discharge planning with increasing responsibility.
  • Leadership Development: Supports unit goals and shared governance initiatives. Completes a professional development plan and supervises support staff. Appropriately delegates tasks and seeks interdisciplinary resources.
Physical Demands:

  • Weight Lifted: Up to 100 lbs, occasionally.
  • Weight Carried: Up to 50 lbs, occasionally.
  • Vision: Moderate, frequently required.
  • Kneeling/Stooping/Bending: Frequently required.
  • Standing/Walking: Frequently required.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Frequently required.
Working Conditions:
