Job Summary:


Trinity Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician - Patient Care Specialist to join our team. As an EMT, you will provide direct patient care prior to and during transport for all patient populations, guided by protocols.

Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience



Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct Patient Care: Provides care to patients prior to and during transport, assessing medical conditions and reflecting findings in the patient record.
  • Assessment and Prioritization: Prioritizes and anticipates patients' needs, developing a plan of care and implementing interventions consistent with protocols.
  • Treatment and Evaluation: Provides ongoing evaluation, altering the treatment plan as needed, and documents findings and interventions.
  • Equipment and Supplies: Prepares equipment, checks medical equipment and supplies daily, and restocks and cleans the unit after each mission.
  • Communication: Knowledgeable in the use of radios and communication systems, and assists in the orientation of new EMTs.
  • Vehicle Operations: Operates required vehicle(s) in a safe manner to perform required duties of the position.
  • Staffing and Events: Participates in staffing special events as required.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma preferred or high school equivalency.
  • Certification: Certified as an EMT in the State of Iowa.
  • Experience: One year recent experience functioning as an EMT-B providing direct patient care preferred.
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's/Chauffeurs License required, meeting Mercy's Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and being at least 18 years of age.
  • CPR Certification: Basic Life Support certified within three months of hire, with acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications including American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • Mandatory Reporter Training: Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within 3 months of hire.
