POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the incumbent will conduct screening mammograms and specialized diagnostic mammography tests, assisting healthcare professionals during advanced breast procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support healthcare providers in executing image-guided diagnostic and invasive breast procedures, including but not limited to stereotactic biopsies and MRI breast biopsies.
  • Review and assess physician requests for mammography procedures, ensuring compliance with departmental protocols.
  • Conduct both screening and diagnostic mammography with precision.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and report any issues to supervisory staff.
  • Prepare examination rooms and necessary materials, selecting appropriate tools and equipment as per established guidelines.
  • Operate mammographic and tomographic machinery, adjusting settings based on patient-specific factors.
  • Position patients accurately, ensuring comfort and safety during procedures.
  • Educate patients about procedures to alleviate anxiety and ensure cooperation.
  • Document procedures in electronic health records and manage patient tracking effectively.
  • Conduct quality control assessments in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Assist in training new staff and orienting them to departmental protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
One year of experience as a certified Mammography Technologist in a clinical or hospital environment.

LICENSE:
Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (CRT) from the State of California, along with a Mammographic Certificate.

ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This role requires standing or walking for extended periods, along with the ability to lift objects weighing over 25 pounds occasionally.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience assisting in advanced imaging procedures and possession of a Venipuncture Certificate will be advantageous.
