Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Orthopedic Department at Carle Foundation Hospital. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Collecting pertinent information regarding the patient's chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliation upon arrival for a patient visit.
  • Completing necessary telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and/or other health care facilities.
  • Performing administrative tasks, including patient check-in/check-out, prior authorizations, scheduling appointments, verification of benefits, and coordination of referrals and testing.
  • Assisting with prescription medication refills, calling medications into pharmacies, and notifying patients of refills.
  • Maintaining department-specific competencies related to point-of-care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification from a recognized organization
  • Ability to operate office equipment and proficiency in basic computer skills
