Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our Orthopedics team at Carle Foundation Hospital. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities:

Collect patient information, including chief complaint, family history, social history, and medication reconciliation.
Perform administrative tasks, such as patient check-in, prior authorizations, and scheduling appointments.
Assist with procedures, such as urine catheterizations, bladder scanning, and suture removal, under the direction of a provider.
Provide patient education and instructions regarding procedures, medications, and follow-up care.
Administer medications and provide assistance with prescription medication refills.
Maintain department-specific competencies related to point-of-care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification from a recognized organization
Ability to learn and retain information, strong customer service skills, and compassion in dealing with others
