Position Overview - Clinical Dietician

The Clinical Dietician is responsible for delivering specialized nutrition services, which include comprehensive nutrition assessments, educational outreach, nutrient intake evaluations, and patient screenings aimed at ensuring optimal nutrition care for individuals and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate the nutritional health of patients by analyzing data from medical records, patient interviews, family discussions, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  2. Identify the educational needs of patients and their families, providing relevant resources and creating an optimal learning environment.
  3. Conduct thorough nutrient intake assessments.
  4. Perform nutrition screenings for patients flagged as having elevated nutritional risks.
  5. Contribute to the formulation of policies and procedures that enhance nutrition care and meal service operations.
  6. Delegate appropriate nutrition care tasks to dietetic support staff.
  7. Serve as a mentor for dietetic interns and students when necessary.
  8. Assist in the diet office as required.

Qualifications

Education

Essential: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Experience

Desirable: At least one year of experience as a dietitian in a clinical environment.

Certifications

Essential: Must be Registered or Registration eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Registration must be obtained within six months of employment. Current state licensure as a Dietitian is required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
