Laboratory Assistant

Additionally, you may be responsible for verifying medical necessity for Medicare patients.", "Requirements": "To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and be certified or licensed as required by the state. You must also be able to read and write English, and communicate effectively with patients and staff. Experience in a laboratory setting is preferred, but not required.", "Responsibilities": "Your key responsibilities will include:", "* Collecting blood samples from patients, following established procedures to ensure the proper specimen for testing", "* Performing venipunctures and skin punctures, as trained", "* Registering and interviewing patients, obtaining accurate demographic and financial information", "* Verifying medical necessity for Medicare patients", "* Maintaining accurate records and reports", "Work Environment": "You will work in a well-lit, ventilated area, with exposure to disagreeable odors, toxic fumes, and high noise levels. You may also be exposed to carcinogenic, hazardous, and radioactive materials, as well as sharp needles and blades. Mental stress from working with infectious materials and reporting results that directly affect patient care is also a consideration.", "Physical Requirements": "You will be required to stand, sit, and stoop throughout the shift, and may be required to work more than a standard shift as dictated by workload, staffing, and equipment failure.
